Asia: Nepal

In most restaurants tips are NOT expected. Some upscale restaurants levy a 10% service charge; if your bill doesn't reflect this, tip 15%. A few rupees (Rs) are fine for a taxi driver unless he's driven a hard bargain for the fare. If you're on a camping trek, tip 200Rs per person per day. Give this to the guide in the presence of the other staff for a later ceremonious distribution to all the staff. When not a on a camping trek, tip the guide 100Rs per person per day and give 50Rs per day to the porter.
