In South Africa tipping 10% in restaurants and bars is customary, unless a service charge has been added. Give taxi drivers and tour guides a 10% tip. Gas station attendants get R2 (2 rands) to R3 for washing your windshield and generally being helpful. Tip informal parking attendants in major cities R.50 to R2 for the service. Porters should be given R1.5 to R2 per bag.
